Where will you be on December 21 2012? Maybe you’ll be last minute Christmas shopping or even be spending some quality time with the family. Or, will you find yourself out partying like it really is the last night on Earth? Maybe hiding down in the bunker you’ve made for yourself in your basement?
We only have 11 months until we are graced with “the end of the world.” If you go back and look, the world was supposed to end countless times. Media hype and our own paranoia have done a perfect job time and time again in scaring us to the core for absolutely nothing.
On March 10, 1982 the “Jupiter Effect” was supposed to wreak havoc on our beloved planet, causing earthquakes hurricanes and every single natural disaster that you can name. Y2K is perhaps the most famous date that our planet was supposed to cease to be. If you recall, governments all over the world feared that all of the computers, electronic systems, etc in the world were going to read the digits of the date as 1900 not 2000. Many people even camped out in Times Square, New York waiting to be taken to the afterlife.
Many predictions have been made as to what exactly will take place on Earth when December 21 hits us. As you probably know, this date was predicted thousands of years ago by the ancient Mayans, as it is the last date listed on their Long Count calendar. Don’t let the history books fool you though, the Mayans knew. You can blame the fact that they were wiped out by the Spanish all you want, but we know why the calendar really stops there. We know the truth.
According to some, the planets will align perfectly, throwing off our gravitational pull (Imagine, a world with out gravity.) Another event that will supposedly occur is that the sun will reach its solar maximum. Once that happens, the magnet poles of the Earth will reverse. The other theory about 2012 is that a giant solar flare will incinerate the planet, causing super volcanoes to erupt everywhere and block out the sun from us who were hiding away in our basements.
A lot of thought and rumors have been put into the ending of a calendar. If anything, 2012 shows us all exactly what humans are capable of when they disregard reason and become a part of the incredibly contagious virus that is mass hysteria. Once a person as caught that disease, there is no cure other than to stick it out and have some patience that it all will pass.
Build your bunkers, party because the word is ending, go Christmas shopping; whatever will make you enjoy your last day on Earth, do it. It would be beneficial to keep in mind however, that the great mind of Nostradamus has predicted a bitter end for us all in 3739.
