With a pitch clocked at 93 miles per hour, Elliot Morris is almost ready to show the league just how far he can help take the team.
Morris is still in the process of recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Morris has been playing baseball since he was 6 years old. He played baseball on the Federal Way High School team.
“My dad started me in baseball as soon as I was old enough to join the team,” Morris said.
Experience is good, and Morris has a lot of it when it comes to baseball.
Although Morris hasn’t been playing on the Raider team recently, the team and parents are eagerly awaiting his return to the field.
“I hurt my elbow last season in the fall and ended up tearing my UCL and had to get it reconstructed. It has taken just over a year to get back to 100 percent,” Morris said.
When one tears the UCL, it has to be completely reconstructed in a process called Tommy John surgery.
During this process a tendon is taken from the leg or the arm and placed into the elbow, creating a mock UCL.
The recovery is a long process, but once complete the player should be the same or better than before.
Morris has gained five miles per hour onto his pitch.
Before he was pitching at roughly 88 miles per hour.
Morris is in his second year of college so he is looking to move on to a four-year.
He is completing his associates degree and is hoping to continue to a powerhouse D1 school, which is a school that has national sports.
Morris is working towards a bright future and still has much to discover, but for now he will continue to heal and then hopefully help the Raider men keep their undefeated league streak going.
