Lights, camera, action and let the fall play production begin. “Almost, Maine” is a collection of vignettes of love stories, nine different quirky love stories to be exact.
“Almost, Maine” was written by world famous play writer John Cariani, also known for his appearance as a forensics technician Julian Beck on the popular television show “Law and Order”.
Kelly Doran, professor from Tacoma School of the Arts, is showcasing her talent as the guest director for “Almost, Maine”.
“I teach theater at the Tacoma school of the arts so I can’t even tell you how many plays I’ve worked on but I’ve been directing for 10 years,” Doran said. “This is my second time working with Pierce College. I taught the technical theater class last year here and designed the winter play, “The Fire Bird” and when Fred [Metzger] contacted me about the play I didn’t hesitate when I said yes.”
Doran describes “Almost, Maine” as a feel good movie that will make you laugh as it takes you through the ups and down involved with the emotion of love.
“I teach full time and I come here after school but I really love working with Pierce College and it’s really fun being so supported by a director like Fred and the staff here, so I appreciate that,” Doran said.
“Almost, Maine” will début Friday, Nov. 11, and Saturday, Nov. 12, and then will continue the following weekend, Nov. 18 and 19 at 7 p.m.
The tickets are $3 for general admission and $2 for students.
