Seattle prides itself on theaters like the Moore and venues like the Tractor Tavern, but none compare to the quaint personal feeling associated with the Triple Door in the city’s center.
The Triple Door is a multifunctional venue incorporating live music with high-end Asian cuisine. The venue is located at the intersection of Union and 3rd. Valet and public parking are available to the left of the entrance.
Upon entering the venue, patrons walk down the hall to the greeting staff, who are well versed in the complicated seating arrangements within the actual theater. The staff lead the customers around the corner and to their pre-purchased seats. The venue is at a slight slant with seating on the sides facing the center, and larger booth tables facing the stage.
At the beginning of every show, the table’s waitress or waiter will explain that their full menu is available through the entirety of the performance. From low priced satay dishes to full priced seafood, noodle, and curry dishes the menu is well rounded and offers something for every price range.
Their satay dishes are fun to snack on all night long. Ranging from $5 to $11, they have marinated and grilled boar, short ribs and sea scallops. Each satay dish is well seasoned and is served on a small platter with some sticky rice, the appropriately paired sauce and house made pickles.
The menu also provides vegetarian dishes like some tofu curries and the Buddha rolls, which are small spring rolls served with a sweet and sour sauce meant to tease the pallet.
There are local beers among other hot teas and coffees available as well as sodas and other common drinks. The service is great and the people are very personable.
The venue is set up perfectly for live music, because of the way the sound is fed to each crevasse of the building. The soundboard engineer is talented at keeping the levels balanced during shows.
The musicians can be seen during the entirety of their performances because the seating is at a slight slant and the only standing room is in the back behind the sitting room.
Many prominent artists have been featured at this venue. Recently names like Pomplamoose and Rosie Thomas have played with many more scheduled to come.
Up-and-coming Ivan and Aliosha, which sounded like Mumford and Sons with hints of Johnny Cash’s lyrical ability, accompanied Rosie Thomas.
Teitur is coming on Feb. 1. He is a fantastic artist who plays hits like “I was Just Thinking” and “Let’s Go Dancing.” His mellow stylings are perfect for this homie venue.
Purchase tickets on their website tripledoor.com, check out their menu and look forward to more shows.
