A true story of love forgotten because of brutal injury and renewed through persistence
“The Vow” is a romantic story with a hint of comedy starring Channing Tatum from “Step-Up” and “Dear John” and Rachel McAdams from “The Notebook.”
Based on a true story of a married couple that gets into a life-changing car accident where the wife loses part of her memory.
The husband then has to prove himself to her and win her love once again.
Tatum plays Leo, the husband and owner of a small music studio in Chicago, while Adams plays Paige, the wife and sculptor artist who looses four years of her memory after getting in a car accident.
The movie starts by the loving couple coming out of a movie theater and getting into their car to drive home, only to be hit by a truck.
When the accident happens Paige is catapulted through the windshield, her head shattering the glass and her injured body crashes on the hood of the car.
Both husband and wife end up unconscious and badly injured.
Leo recovers quickly but the doctors decided to keep Paige in a comatose state in order for her brain to somewhat recover and heal.
She wakes up and sees Leo, only to find out that she doesn’t remember him at all.
Paige lost four years of her memory and only remembers her parents, friends, being in law school and being engaged to another man.
Finding out she doesn’t remember her life with her husband, moving into the city to be a sculptor, even meeting her husband and getting married, devastated Leo.
Paige goes home to her normal life, as the doctor recommended.
She then leaves and moves back in with her parents when she realized she was overwhelmed to be living and supposedly be married to someone she didn’t know.
Leo puts his all into trying to get his wife to back fall in love with him despite her controlling family and ex-fiancé trying to control and manipulate the situation into his favor.
Ultimately, they ended back together, although Paige never gained her previews memories back.
It was a good story, very warm and sweet with a lot of humorous moments between the characters.
This movie is a must see for romantic films fanatics as well as Channing Tatum lovers, but totally not a date night movie.
