Students can utilize campus, off-campus resources to create healthier lifestyle

Summer is fast approaching and no one wants to look bad in his or her bathing suit. For students, on-campus weight loss is easier than one may think.
A membership to the campus gym is only $15 a quarter, compared to other
gyms off campus. This is only a fraction of the cost and will essentially pay for
itself after just a few uses.
The gym in the HEC is well equipped to handle many students and can provide a great social experience for the average student who is planning on shaping up for bathing suit season.
If one wants a personal trainer, the campus gym has that too. Of course, this will cost extra, depending on how many hours the student wants to work with the trainer.
Perhaps, one doesn’t want to work out in the gym. Right down the hill from campus is a beautiful park with many forested trails perfect for walking or running.
The lake that is in the park has a paved trail that is one mile around.
The trail is wide enough that it won’t get over crowded, and the pavement makes it easier to walk with less of a chance of tripping.
The trails also are bikeable, meaning it would be just as easy to ride a bike through the trails as it would to walk or run.
The park also features a dog park area. This means that man’s best friend can work out alongside its owner.
Dogs make a great motivation to work out. All dogs love a good walk, so not only will it provide one a chance to get out and go for a walk but it also gives the dog a chance to get some extra energy.
Exercise doesn’t need to be as scary as it may seem. A 30-minute walk can provide a great workout and it doesn’t need to be as strenuous as one may think it needs to be.
The important thing to remember is that results will not be immediate; persistence is key when working to lose weight. It’s also important to not focus on the number.
If weight loss is the goal, maybe set a size of pants
you want to fit into. Weight loss can happen and the weight may not drop or it may even rise. During workout the body will gain muscle, which weighs more than fat.
For any workout or diet, one of the most important things to remember is that if one is satisfied with the results, the workout must continue because to make the weight change the activity must be continued to continue to see change.
Students around campus are getting into the mood of the season.
“I’m planning on getting in shape for the summer,” Jack Murrey said. “I’m going to work out in the HEC and utilize our gym.”
Students around campus are planning on getting in shape. Hopefully making changes to provide a healthier life style.
