Mixed Martial Arts is well known for being used in UFC. (Ultimate Fighting Championship) Most of us have imagined ourselves doing roundhouse kicks, blocks with punches, or flying through the air bicycle kicking your opponent like Lu Kang on Mortal Combat. Movies embellish actual martial art moves into something humans could never physically do. Doesn’t mean we still don’t wish and dream.
MMA is in many colleges around the country and the movement is only getting stronger. Me and some other individuals are trying to put together an MMA club here at Pierce College. The club’s intentions are genuine I assure you. We are still putting together the articles and constitutions for the foundation of the club to keep the environment safe and fun while developing more then just your combative skills. Here are some of the intentions and goals of the club trying to come to Pierce College.
The goal and purpose of a Pierce College MMA club would be to create an on going club that can groom new members into leadership roles and eventually carry on the club past its original creators. The club would conduct daily activities to; teach and develop members in the daily activities, to teach and develop members in the categories of competitive martial arts, physical fitness, nutrition and leadership skills.
The idea of the club is to help individuals with self-confident, self-empowerment, self-discipline, self-defense, and instill a structure or improve on leadership skills and values all while giving their bodies a healthy amount of fitness to improve cognitive thinking while in school.
The club will teach many different forms and types of martial art styles, from military combatives all the way to Jiu Jistu and everything in between. The club leaders will work with every individual and determine their goals to help the individual grow.
Safety is the clubs top priority when training members. The safe environment that the club creates will be safe enough for anyone to join or attend the club. The environment will be fun and educational for individuals.
The MMA club will also bring out Guests from other dojos to teach and broaden a member’s individual knowledge and techniques. There will also be guests nutritionists to help educate members on healthy eating for your mind and body.
Currently we are trying to get the MMA to pierce college by this spring. There will be flyers posted at the school if Pierce College decides to implement this club. The flyers will contain information on dates and times of club events and contact information for people who have questions and concerns about the club.
Whether you just want to improve on your technique, advance into a possible UFC career, improve positive qualities about yourself, get your work out for the day, or simply check out the club to see what it’s about, the club will work with your individual goals and needs. Come on out and feed the craving inside for that roundhouse kick.
