The Veterinary Technology program’s annual Pet Adoption Week will be held from May 6 to May 9 in the Cascade building near the cafeteria.
This event is to find homes for pets that have been cared for by Vet Tech students for the past school year.
Pets include cats and dogs of different ages who have all been spayed, neutered and had a dental cleaning. They have been subject to obedience training as well.
Beagle mixes are the most popular dog up for adoption, and there are many multicolored cats as well.
All pets will be adopted and none will be euthanized. If any pets do not find a home during Pet Adoption Week, students can also foster them until they find a good home.
The week’s focus is to meet and greet the animals and sign up for adoption. Since the pets are still being used for the Vet Tech program, they will not be able to join their new owners until around Memorial Day, according to program support supervisor Debbie Wong.
Pet lovers can also make an appointment during the week to have the animal they already know and love come meet the potential new pet. This is a good way to determine if new pets will get along with old ones in a different environment.
Each pet has a name and a distinct personality, and all of them need a home. To see the profiles of individual pets for adoption, visit wpar,petfinder.org.
