Being performed by the college drama department, Avenue Q is a musical with a mix of live cast and puppet characters taking center stage.
Avenue Q is known as a Broadway act with a distinct brand of humor and wide range of adult topics that come up. Be warned that just because puppets that look like they should appear on Saturday morning cartoons are involved doesn’t mean the musical is safe for all ages. Some songs and skits Avenue Q are known for are titled ‘If You Were Gay’, ‘The Internet Is For Porn’, ‘Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist’ and ‘Schadenfreude’.
Avenue Q started as an off-Broadway musical in 2003 before finding its way to the Broadway scene later that same year. The musical stayed on Broadway until the middle of 2009 and is currently presenting Off-Broadway again through the New Age Theatre.

Our drama department will be doing the same play with puppets that look identical to the ones that graced the Broadway stage and the actors who stand beside these puppets have practiced the iconic voices. At the start of November, the cast puppets took a tour of the city and promoted their upcoming musical and being their wacky selves in the Cascade building.
The Avenue Q presented at the school will be hosted on Nov. 15, 16, 22, and 23. Tickets can be found at the student life office for $3 for general admission and $2 for students who present their ID at the time of purchase.
