What may be the one of the greatest stories in history comes in the form of a struck deal between Marvel Studios and Sony. Spiderman, a much beloved and vital character in the Marvel universe will finally join the Avengers some time in the future.

The deal consists of Spider-Man first appearing in a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film first and then appearing in a Sony installment with MCU producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal set to co-produce.

As far as who has total control over Spider-Man, the fact is that Sony still has the final say over what happens with Spider-Man, which could lead to possible implications in the future.

Nevertheless, fans around the world have exclaimed their excitement all over the Internet. As for Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, he said,  “We always want to collaborate with the best and most successful filmmakers to grow our franchises and develop our characters.”

Lynton added, “Marvel, Kevin Feige and Amy, who helped orchestrate this deal, are the perfect team to help produce the next chapter of Spider-Man,” Lynton concluded by saying, “This is the right decision for the franchise, for our business, for Marvel, and for the fans.”

Marvel President Kevin Feige also expressed his enthusiasm for the deal by saying, “I am thrilled to team with my friends at Sony Pictures along with Amy Pascal to produce the next Spider-Man movie.” Feige added, “Amy has been deeply involved in the realization on film of one of the world’s most beloved characters. Marvel’s involvement will hopefully deliver the creative continuity and authenticity that fans demand from the MCU.”

Feige finished by saying, “I am equally excited for the opportunity to have Spider-Man appear in the MCU, something which both we at Marvel, and fans alike, have been looking forward to for years.”

With Spiderman now added to MCU’s roster, the studio has pushed back dates for its major films that include “Black Panther,” the “Inhumans,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” and “Captain Marvel.” While it is unclear how Marvel will integrate Spider-Man into their cinematic universe, fans are hoping that Spider-Man will be included at the end of “Captain America 3: Civil War” during or after the credits.

The other question on fan’s minds, is who will don the iconic suit now that Andrew Garfield will no longer be portraying the character. Fans are divided as to whether they want Marvel to bring back Peter Parker or to start fresh with Miles Morales, a character that was also bitten by a spider and gained “spider powers.” Morales is a black hispanic character inspired by Barack Obama’s run and win for presidency.

With Marvel growing larger in power, there are some fans hoping that Marvel will be able to take full control of everyone’s favorite web-head, but only time will. It may especially be an difficult battle for Marvel considering the Spider-Man property is Sony’s highest grossing franchise making the company over $4 billion in sales.
