July 7, 2026
Photography, dance, music, sculpture, theatre and all things art are being celebrated in Tacoma this October. There are over 300 events, 57 local artists in the studio tour, 56 classes and 76 exhibits. If you are looking for something artsy to do this Fall there are plenty of options this month. All events are open to the public and quite a few are free.
The studio tour is taking place on the 17th and 18th this month. This is where local artists will be creating artwork in their studios, answering questions and have activities for viewers where they can create their own masterpieces. There is a map on the Tacoma Art Month website where you can look at each studio and pick out your favorites to plot your own tour.
You can also win prizes by entering a raffle. To enter all you have to do is take a selfie at an event with the Hashtag #TacomaArts and mention your location. You can also print out a paper passport to take to with you to the studio tour and get it stamped or signed at each studio you visit. Then you mail in your passport to the address listed on the bottom of it to enter.
There are art classes listed and available in all different disciplines from wearable art to culinary arts. A large variety of schools and clubs in the Tacoma area are participating and offering classes. Pierce College is on the list along with Throwing Mud Gallery, Area 253 GlassBlowing and Live Paint LLC.
Out of 76 art exhibits displayed this month the majority of them are free. Most of these galleries are showing new exhibits year round, but during art month you get a discounted price or don’t have to worry about the cost at all.
Tacoma Art Month is great way to experience Tacoma while supporting local artists including artists here at Pierce. 30 students in the digital design program have their artwork currently hanging in the Tahoma Center Gallery on 123 Yakima Ave, Tacoma until the end of the month. Art month has something for everyone whether you want to support local artists, learn a new skill, view, listen, buy or even create your own artwork.
