Student Life and the Veteran’s Center are partnering up to host a Veteran’s Day celebration on Nov. 5 from 11 am to 1 pm in the Fireside Lounge.

Students can enjoy refreshments and fun activities while saying “Thank You” to veterans.

“The resources offered at this event will be things such as making sure that Veterans have everything they need to be successful at Pierce College and [in] their lives. Vets will have resources to things such as how to get financial assistance, where to get their textbooks, [and] who they could contact if they need anything,” said Adrian Milanio, the Issues, Awareness and Intramurals Coordinator of Student Life.

CWU will be hosting a letter writing table that will have the letters written sent to Veterans oversees. Also, we will have a Pinterest table that will allow people to decorate things to send as well. We’re going to have some gaming sessions going on as well,” Milanio said.

Vickie Bell, veteran advisor and resource center manager says, “Students, Staff, and Faculty are welcome to come participate in many of the fun activities of writing “thank you” letters, assembling care packages for a homeless veterans shelter, decorating picture frames, and meeting with college and community resources that support veterans student success.”

Some of the college and community partners that will be in attendance include the Vet Club, TRIO, Veterans Education Benefits Office, Tacoma Goodwill Operations, Good Jobs, Rally Point 6, and many more.

There will be multiple information tables to ensure that every veteran can gain the resources necessary for success at school and in everyday life. If you are a veteran, this is great opportunity to see what is available to help further your goals as a college student.
