Students show love to Mother Nature on Earth Day
Earth Day is a chance to celebrate and appreciate what Mother Nature has done for human beings. Raising awareness about the importance of protecting the environment is one way that humans can give back.
On Friday, April 20, the Student Life Office hosted an event to instruct students on how to start up their own composting for environmental purposes, such as gardening, and know how to properly recycle.

There was a big line of students till cafeteria on earth day celebration in the lobby.
“Earth Day is something we should be aware of since it is important for us to know different ways to care about the environment by learning about environmental friendly tools and planting more plants because we need those plants to support our lives,” said Caitlynn Willis, Issues and Awareness Coordinator of Student Life at Pierce College.
During the event, the Student Life hosted a plant adoption from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Volunteers handed out information on planting trees, reusable bags, and baby plants. There were two type of baby plants: a succulent, which is easy to plant for beginners, and strawberry, which is suitable for gardeners.
“This event is manly conducted by the STEM students, so they have to manage their time for classes and preparing for the event in the same time, however, we help each other and help the president to make the even happen,” said Steffon Kendrickson, Science Dome Ambassador.
