Graduation is just around the corner for those who have earned their degrees and certificates this year.
June 15th marks a milestone of many, maybe some who never dreamed of going to college, and even some high school graduates.
The ceremony will take place at the Tacoma Dome, promptly at 3:30pm. Doors will open for family mem- bers and graduates an hour earlier at 2:30pm.
Admission is free, however, parking will cost $10 per vehicle.
Graduates are able to pick up their free cap and gown at either the Fort Steilacoom or Puyallup bookstore.
Graduates will also receive a tassel for their cap, five free commencement announcements, and in- formation about the ceremony.
Also for sale are diploma frames (ranging in price from about 50 to 100 dol- lars) and extra commencement announcements for $.50 a piece.
The commencement speaker will be Kathleen Flenniken, who was recently named the Washington State Poet Laureate, a role promoting awareness and appreciation of poetry.
The commencement will start with those receiving Associate of Arts degrees, and will be followed by graduates receiving high school diplomas and certificates.
There is expected to be around 500 to 600 people graduating this year.
Graduates are anticipated to receive their diplomas and certificates in the mail around ten weeks after grades from spring quarter are submitted and degree eligibility is verified by the evaluations office.
Pick up graduation gown’s and caps in the Fort Steilacoom or Puyallup bookstore while they last!
