Jael Kirkwood, a student here at Pierce, has made it to the semi-finals in a competition through her work this past week. Kirkwood works at the Morgan Family YMCA, and through the Pierce and Kitsap YMCA Associations.
Kirkwood got together with the Late Nite Tacoma YMCA group and started a singing group LNT5 [Late Nite Tacoma 5] to help support and raise money for the Strong Kids Campaign. Later, after learning about The Sing Out For The Y Contest, Kirkwood and LNT5 entered the songs video that Kirkwood and her cousin wrote, “Wake Up Every Morning To Happy.”
LNT5 found out that their song made it to the semi-finals and now needs people to go out and vote for their song at their Facebook page, http://bit.ly/14RuusS. In order to vote, one first has to like the page and then vote. To see the video on Youtube.com, search for “Wake Up to Happy YMCA.”
If LNT5 can get enough votes, Kirkwood and her team will make it to the top three and move on to the finals, which is an all-expense paid, week-long trip to Philadelphia to compete in the finals.
