In today’s age it has become so easy to communicate with others through texting, email, and social media sites that it’s more difficult to have interpersonal relationships. This has lead to more people becoming introverts and wanting to stay inside logged on to their social media’s instead of actually going outside and being social. There is a simple solution to changing your habits to being more of an extrovert, start saying yes more.
Saying yes to simple opportunities for social events can help to cure being an introvert and build interpersonal relationships. This can also build confidence. Invitations to go see a new movie, say yes. Invites to go to a festival at the beach but planned on sitting inside all day to read Tweets as they come out, go to the festival anyway. The Tweets will be there when you get back and you’ll be glad you went out and did something social with your day, instead of just reading about a friend’s day.
Saying yes more can lead to better opportunities in life. Don’t say yes to everything or abandon your morals so that you can say yes to an opportunity either. Just start by saying yes to something that wouldn’t usually seem worth the effort. Saying yes to these opportunities will show people confidence and will build interpersonal relationships with other people participating, and these interpersonal relationships are much more important than your relationships on Facebook.
As social media sites become more and more integrated into our lives it’s important to still build interpersonal relationships, because they will always be the most important ones. Nothing will ever be able to completely replace face to face.
