Local restaurant burns down
July 7, 2026
On Sunday, June 28, local restaurant Happy Teriyaki #4, was burned down by a single-alarm fire.
According to West Pierce Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Hallie McCurdy, firefighters
responded to the fire at around 2:30 a.m. to find the building “fully engulfed” in flames.
The fire lasted for nearly an hour until it was declared to be under control, but the building was completely destroyed.
Though the cause of the fire is still under investigation, McCurdy believes that the fire originated from the restaurant’s kitchen, the most common place and logical place for a fire to occur. There were no injuries.
Happy Teriyaki #4 was located at 6007 100th St SW in Lakewood.
