Club Spotlight: Japanese game and watch club
July 7, 2026
At the beginning of last spring quarter Daniel Dino started the Japanese Game and Watch Club that concentrates on Japanese media mainly games and movies. Daniel, the club’s president is a graphic design major but has always had a lot of interest in game design. He has always had showed interest in Japanese Media especially Amine. He started this club because he wanted to share his passion with his fellow students.
The club was made more known to the students on campus during the Clubs Rush on September 30th, where Daniel gave students an opportunity to pay Japanese games that haven’t been released in the United States. He also showed them different kinds of anime that I found very intriguing.
Much as the club covers Japanese Media, they also look at Anime and games from other countries like China, which is very similar to the latter. The main mission of the Japanese Game and watch Club is to bring awareness to Japanese and other Asian culture though media like video games.
During their meetings that are held, once a week, members watch different genres of anime from different decades and also play Japanese video games both those by American companies and those that have not been released to American media. If you plan to join this club but are worried about the language barrier when it comes to the games, Daniel assured that that will not be a problem because the club has a number of Japanese students that help with translation. It is a great learning experience.
“I want to make Pierce College students more aware of not just Japanese but Asian culture in general” said Daniel Dino. He added to say, “There are many interestingJapanese movies that are not known by Americans because they are not produced by Hollywood, the same applies to video games.”The Japanese Game and Watch Club will be at the Game Day event by the student life on October 21st in the Performance Lounge. Students will have a chance to play the latest Japanese Video Games and learn more about the culture. The club currently has 20 members and more are welcome. This club is a great way of learning more about Asian Culture and media and also a great way to relax from schoolwork. Meetings are held in Cascade 526 on Tuesdays from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.
